Hybrid Mixers

Hybrid mixers combine the agitators from ribbon and paddle mixers. This can be useful for products that are too delicate for ribbon mixers but won’t be mixed well enough by paddles, or for mixes which mound. The combination of these two methods has the convenient tendency to keep product from clumping up in the middle of mixer.

Benefits

For the right product, hybrid mixers’ benefits will be as follows:

  • Efficient: Paddle ribbon hybrid mixers offer improved mixing efficiency compared to traditional mixers. This is because the paddle and ribbon design helps to move the material around in the mixer, ensuring that all the material is mixed uniformly.

  • Versatile: Paddle ribbon hybrid mixers can handle a wide range of materials, including powders, granules, and pastes. They are particularly effective in mixing materials that tend to clump together.

  • Fast: The design of paddle ribbon hybrid mixers generally reduce mixing time as compared to paddle mixers, but increase it in relation to ribbon mixers.

  • Tightly Controllable: Hybrid mixers offer precise control over mixing speeds, blending times, and grinding processes. This ensures consistent and uniform results, which is important in the food processing industry.

Options

All mixers we source can be configured and customized to fit the application it best fits. These options include but are not limited to:

  • Vacuum – Configurations are available where a near-0 vacuum can be pulled.
  • Microwave – Microwave mixers can hold temperatures within 0.5 degrees F.
  • Load Cells – Mixers can be put on load cells to weigh and control inputs that are not self-weighed.
  • Overflow Hopper Integration – We can integrate hoppers to allow use of batch mixers in continuous processes.
  • Blenders – Small blades can be included inside the vessel to allow extra blending to occur during mixing.
  • Custom Lids – Various inputs or lids of custom shapes, lift-assist, or safety features can be added.

When to use:

  • Mounding materials: Paddle ribbon hybrid mixers are particularly effective in mixing materials that tend to clump together. The paddle and ribbon design helps to move the material around in the mixer, ensuring that all the material is mixed uniformly.

  • Inconsistent materials: Paddle ribbon hybrid mixers are ideal for mixing multiple materials, including powders, granules, and pastes. The mixer’s design ensures that all the materials are mixed uniformly, resulting in a consistent end product.

  • High-volume mixing: Paddle ribbon hybrid mixers are designed for high-volume mixing. They can handle large quantities of materials and mix them relatively quickly and efficiently, but again this is product-specific.

When not to use:

  • Extremely viscous materials: While paddle ribbon hybrid mixers are effective in mixing viscous materials, they may not be suitable for materials that are extremely viscous or have a high viscosity.

  • Extremely delicate materials: Hybrid mixers will create less heat and shear than ribbon mixers, but more than paddle mixers.
