Potato Equipment

ABM Equipment is the leading provider of potato handling systems in the US. From the smallest to the largest potato systems in the States, ABM Equipment provides system design, integration, and maintenance of bulk potato processing equipment. ABM is also the leading x-ray inspection provider for the potato application, able to hit your spec with fewer false rejects than any competitor. In addition to the equipment listed below, ABM also provides sanitary slurry eductors and hot oil recovery systems with heat protection.

Potato X-ray Machine

Potato X-Ray

The most popular—and optimally sized—X-ray models for potato applications are the bulk 415 and 540 models. These models are PXT-compatible, which is favored by larger producers for their precision in extremely messy images. French fries, for example, can cross each other or run perpendicular to detectors, making detection of small contaminants difficult for older X-ray models. Using photon-counting technology has allowed us to reduce false rejects and create rework procedures that are both simpler and more effective for our customers.

ABM Equipment Bag Dump Station

Auto-Pulse Bag Dump Stations

In an automated process where silos and bulk bag unloaders are feeding closed conveyors (pneumatics or tubular drag), operators need a way to add extra ingredients to the system. Bag dump stations provide a convenient, safe way to do this. ABM Equipment’s bag dump station has a unique mix of features that eliminate waste and reduce man-hours.

Vibratory conveyor moving pasta

Vibratory Conveyors

Vibratory conveyors vibrate a sloped metal plate to make loose solids flow. We use them for many products that need gentle, short-distance conveyance, most commonly pharmaceuticals and ingredients. We integrate the flat, open designs that most people are used to seeing as well as tubular 3A models.

Tubular Drag Conveying Systems

ABM supplies tubular drag conveyors for most non-abraisive, free-flowing products including powders, pellets, and granules. Capacities can vary depending on the configuration and product, but as a reference, tubular drag conveyors reach capacity with milled grain at 2,000 ft. through 24 elbows and conveying at a rate of about 300 pounds per hour.

Small Quantity packaging system

Open Mouth Baggers

ABM employs open mouth baggers in bulk packaging systems to weigh and dispense loose product into open-mouth bags, boxes, or totes. We use them for anything dry and bulk you can imagine including food + nutraceutical + pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals, and building materials. They provide efficient and accurate dispensing and can be used manually or connected with bag placers and sealers for an automated process.

Bag Placer

Bag Placers

Bag placers are standalone placing machines meant to be integrated with bag fillers for automatic bagging.
The  TOMP Automatic Open Mouth Bag Placer seen here efficiently places kraft (open-mouth) bags on the spout of an electronic bagging scale, with a capacity of up to 12 per minute. The vertical carousel bag magazine allows for easy loading even while the machine is in operation, and its compact design enables installation in limited floor space.

Centrifugal sifter

Centrifugal Sifters

ABM provides centrifugal sifters—also known as rotary screeners— to sift, filter, and separate solid particles from bulk solids or liquids. They are often used to remove unwanted particles from a product, to grade particles according to their size, or to separate different materials.
Available in dual configurations and sizes that can sift up to 100 TPH, we deploy centrifugal sifters instead of vibratory screeners when gravity alone won’t provide the level of separation needed.

Double deck vibratory screener

Vibratory Screeners

The vibratory screeners we carry (Russell for hygienic and Kason for all others) are available from 18-100″ diameters with up to 5 decks and any combination of optional configurations to fit any project. These optional configurations include sanitary, gap-free, lift-assist lids, CIP, various solutions for difficult products, ultrasonic, and more.

Stainless steel and powder coated silos

Silos

ABM Equipment provides silo sales and servicefor food, chemical, and nutraceutical applications. ABM Equipment handles process engineering, mechanical engineering, integration, and service for silos, as well as our own custom leak-proof gates. We will design your system, help navigate zoning and seismic requirements, and find creative ways to satisfy or avoid other municiple requirements.

Work Bin

Work Bins

ABM fabricates and sources work bins of all types, from totes on wheels to product staging in continuous processes, in all metal materials from carbon and stainless to aluminum. We handle install, integration, and service on all intake and discharge conveyance as well as surrounding equipment.

process controls

Process Controls

Process control is a critical aspect of modern manufacturing and production operations. It involves the use of technology and software to manage and monitor production processes, ensuring that they run smoothly, efficiently, and according to specifications. Process control offers numerous benefits to companies, including recipe programming, remote access, analytics, and IOT integration.

Roller conveyors

Roller Conveyors

ABM Equipment provides both powered and gravity roller conveyors for boxes and large packaged goods in manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution applications. We use powered roller conveyors for controlling product spacing, controlling speed of incoming product, and conveying different products independently on the same conveyor.

Used dust collection system for sale

Baghouses

Baghouses, or bag filters, are a type of dust collection system that uses filter bags to capture and remove dust and other particulate matter from industrial processes. These systems are commonly used in a wide range of industries, including cement, mining, power generation, and metal production, to remove particulate matter from the air.

Cartridge dust collection on a stainless steel bag break station

Cartridge Dust Collectors

ABM supplies cartridge dust collectors for applications where 1, granular filtration and easy maintenance are priorities over maintenance cost and 2, where space is limited. Filters can be round or rectangular, and made of natural or synthetic materials depending on the application.

Hygeinic Cyclone Dust Collector

Cyclone Dust Collectors

We employ cyclone dust collectors to remove debris from processes and spaces when volume and maintenance are a priority over precision. We supply cyclones to many manufacturing industries, from food to chemicals and building materials. Household cyclone vacuums (like Dyson) employ this method which is known for low maintenance—no bags or cartridges to change—and long-lasting performance without loss of suction. However, because there is no filter medium, some of the smaller dust particles will escape.

Rotary Valve Installed Under Silo

Rotary Valves

ABM provides rotary valves as flow control devices for the conveyance of powders, granules, and other bulk materials in ingredient handling systems. ABM handles system design, integration of rotary valves and connected equipment, and service for the life of your system.

An example of a cleated belt conveyor

Cleated Belt Conveyors

Cleated belt conveyors are standard conveyors with raised edges (cleats) to keep product in place and prevent it from sliding or falling off the belt as it moves. This allows greater capacity and conveyance up slopes. The cleats can be made of various materials such as plastic, rubber, or metal, and can be arranged in different patterns depending on the type of material being conveyed and the needs of the application.

Corrugated belt conveyor at an install

Corrugated Belt Conveyors

Corrugated belts feature walls which are expandable so they can wrap around pulleys, and are often combined with cleats to form buckets. Although we primarily use corrugated belts food processing plants as pictured here, they are also used in outdoor industrial applications because they can contain product when it’s being jostled about over uneven terrain.

Pneumatic conveying system for large commercial brewery

Pneumatic Conveyors

Pneumatic conveyors use pressurized air (CO2 or nitrogen can be used to keep temperatures low) to move materials through a pipeline. We use pneumatics for a variety of industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, food ingredients, coffee roasting, and others. Whether it’s positive, negative, dense-phase, or dilute, we’ll design, install, and maintain the right solution for your application.

Flat Belt Conveyors

Home » Search for Flat Belt Conveyors Flat belt conveyors are the simplest and most common of conveying methods and are used for relatively lower capacity/speed applications. They can be used on slopes up to a maximum of 25° for sticky...

Trough belt conveyor

Trough Belt Conveyors

Trough conveyors are belt conveyors where the bed or idle pulleys are shaped to bend the belt and cup the product. This improves the belt’s carrying capacity by helping the product mound, and provides a degree of protection from elements and jostling. ABM supplies trough belt conveyors for a great number of applications, most often in bulk product intake for dry ingredients. With relationships with a number of manufacturers, ABM engineers will identify the best-fitting trough conveyors for your application and help you choose the right mix of features.

Screw Feeders

Screw Feeders

Whether you’re handling powders, granules, chips, or other bulk solids, screw feeders give you the flexibility and control you need for accurate metering and consistent material flow. With over 50,000 units in use worldwide and a wide range of models and configurations, these screw feeders are designed to fit nearly any environment or application.

Tank and hopper scale

Load Cells for Tanks, Hoppers, and Process Equipment

Whether your tanks are static or regularly vibrating and shifting, we provide accurate, reliable weight measurement for any application. Indoor or outdoor, analog or digital, we can connect real-time weights from any tank (or other piece of equipment if desired). We typically use flowscales for batching and ingredient control, but our scales division, A-1 Scales, can automate your system based on the weights of tanks and machinery if it’s advantageous for your process.

MT "High-Speed" Checkweigher

Checkweighers

We use Safeline checkweighers to ensure product is not over or under-weight. They convey product over segments of belts that rest on load cells, which provides an advantage when weighing heavy product, and a disadvantage at very high belt speeds. Relative to other quality-assurance equipment they are low-cost, single-purpose machines but can be integrated with metal detectors to reduce footprint.
